For Eric's birthday, I agreed to help him all day on Saturday with yard work and work around his house. And he put me to work!!! I wish I had taken a picture of his backyard before we started, but let's just say that you couldn't even see the swingset due to the weeds.


And here is a before/after picture of the front of his house. The pictures just don't do it justice, or so my muscles say.

My mom is making the dresses for my bridesmaids, and tonight we met up with Amy to check sizing and length. They're still a work in progress, but here's a preview. I think they're looking great! :)

Eric and I met with our String quartet representative tonight to discuss the music for our wedding ceremony. It was really difficult! But we sketched out a plan... and I'm finally getting an idea of the ceremony! :)

My favorite thing about every 4th Tuesday is coming home to a wonderfully clean house. I can't believe I ever questioned getting a maid service. It's wonderful!

Now that I'm back into the swing of things after my trip, I realize that I have very little time left to finish making my invitations and send them out! So... I've got to crank them out this week! But they're looking very nice....

Poker night again. This time I came in 2nd place. That's my third finish in the top 3. And that puts me back in the money for the year. Let's hope this luck/skill continues.

Today I started my new (re-newed) job at Applebee's. In some ways, it feels like I never left. I guess 2 years is not really that long in IT terms.

P.S. - My luggage finally arrived tonight. 4 days later. I wonder what kind of vacation it had?

Still no luggage. Grrrr.
So... it's off to Walmart to buy replacement socks/underwear and that kind of thing. I guess I needed more than a 3 week supply anyway... But I still want my luggage back!!!

FYI - I still have not received my luggage from my trip. And since my only decent work shoes are in my suitcase, I decided to go shoe shopping today. I did buy a cheap pair of work shoes... but more importantly, I happened on a cool pair of shoes that I think I will wear at my wedding. :)

After 2 weeks in another country, sleeping on the floor and lucky to have any running water, it's no wonder these are the things that I am most excited to see. (After Eric, of course...)
It's good to be home.

Today we went sight-seeing in Kiev.
Among other things, we visited the Chernobyl museum...

... saw some spectacular views of the city...

... witnessed some form of pagan festival...

... and of course, used a public pay toilet.

Our last morning in Vapnyarka. We left somewhat suddenly, so I wasn't able to say goodbye like I had wanted... but at least I got a few good pictures. And of course, I got a picture of me with the pit bull. Nice.

A beautiful river side picnic...


And when we got home that evening, we were treated to surprise fireworks in celebration of the holiday. I regret that I didn't get any photos of that, but will try to add some online once I have some of the rest of the team's photos.

Today we went for a walk in Vapnyarka, and passed a beautiful (but no longer used) Cathedral.

Of course, we still got had time for work and fellowship...

and time for taking pictures by the sign at the train station... (Yes, that says Vapnyarka.)
