This was easily my favorite overall day of the entire honeymoon.

It all started with a trip to Coba to explore some Mayan ruins. (And a "touristic" sign at the entrance that made us smile.)

The big pyramid at Coba is the tallest excavated pyramid in the Yucatan, so of course we had to climb it.

From the top we could see the mexican jungle sprawling for miles around us. We could also see the other pyramid of Coba... a smaller pyramid, but still impressive. Although it looks tiny from the top of this pyramid!

In the picture with Eric, you can see the smaller pyramid in the top left.

One of the things that I loved about Coba was the fact that it was still so wild, with dozens of little paths that would cut right through the heart of the jungle. (And you know me, I can't resist an opportunity to explore a mysterious trail!) Even though we had rented bikes to travel within Coba, we had to leave them behind sometimes so we could explore on foot.

And looking up at the trees in the jungle was amazing!

Wildlife in the jungle is abundant if you know to watch for it.

After the trip to Coba, we stopped at a local "cenote" to swim. A cenote is a sinkhole full of fresh water that leads to a series of underwater caves. This had to be one of the most fascinating things I've ever seen or experienced. It convinced me that I want to scuba dive in a cave someday... But the snorkeling be itself was enough to keep me entertained for hours! My only regret is forgetting to bring the underwater camera. The view under the water was just as fascinating as the view from above!
