Saturday, Mar 31

Well, I forgot to take any good pictures today... so all I have is this lame picture of the clock on my stove. I wonder what time it was?

Friday, Mar 30

I got the new camera last night! Here it is... my new camera from the perspective of the old camera, and the new one.

Oh... I also got some new Hibiscus plants in the mail today. These are going out on the balcony for the summer. :)

Thursday, Mar 29

I can always tell when work is getting busy for me, because my walls fill up with requirements and screen diagrams.

But at least I've got Jive Turkey volleyball on Thursday nights to keep things interesting. Here's Chris with his dog, Porter. Isn't Porter a cutie!

Wednesday, Mar 28

Time for Tom's annual vaccinations!

Tuesday, Mar 27

Update on the daisies.
I've given up. If I really want blue daisies, I'm just going to have to ask a professional. This was about as much blue as I could get.

Monday, Mar 26

Oh to be this comfortable...

Sunday, Mar 25

I went plant shopping with Eric today. He wants to get Azaleas, but I found this to be a much more intriguing alternative. (I know the picture is small, but it looks like something out of the 'Nightmare before Christmas'...)

Saturday, Mar 24

Today's picture is one sent to me by Eric, who has been in Vegas on a business trip.

Looks like he's getting a LOT of "business" done.

Friday, Mar 23

One of my most absolute favorite signs of spring is the blooming of the magnolia trees. A tree full of blooms is pretty, but in my opinion, the true beauty of a magnolia flower is best appreciated up close.

Thursday, Mar 22

Well, I know it's blurry, but I think the blue spot on my daisy is getting bigger. Of course, I expected more color than that by now, so I may need to rethink my strategy.

Wednesday, Mar 21

My camera is officially broken. (Notice the lens is stuck halfway between in and out.)

Tuesday, Mar 20

Well, I was hoping to see some blue in the daisies today, and I guess I did. You probably can't see it because the pictures on my blog are so little. Do you see it?

Just a little tiny bit just on the lower right side...

Monday, Mar 19

I bought some daisies today. I'm going to try to dye them blue to see if they might be nice for the wedding. But in the meantime, they're the perfect subject for my daily photo. (And of course, they're pretty too!)

Sunday, Mar 18

Today started out with a nice Geocache trip with the family. To find out more about Geocaching, check out www.geocaching.com.

We also played more family games. Unfortunately, the only pictures I remembered to take were once again of the Wii.

Saturday, Mar 17

I spent today playing games with my family. First we started with the new Nintendo Wii.

And yes, notice I am the only person showing my St. Patrick's Day spirit by wearing any green (that's a green lei around my neck).

We also played several other games, including one of my favorites: "Cluzzle"

Camera dilema update

I've been able to transfer my pictures from the flash card for my old camera, so I will be updating my blog with pictures and catching up to the present date very soon! :)

As for the camera itself, I think it's time to move on. Canon has offered to sell me a refurbished newer model (the A610) for a decent price, so I will likely take that option. I'll make a decision in the next few days, and I'll be sure to post a picture of my new camera once I get it. ;)

3.21.2007

Uh oh! My camera is broken!!

Well... somehow last night I managed to fry the circuits somewhere in my camera. The lense is currently stuck halfway between the "in" and "out" positions, and the camera won't turn on. When I press the power button, the power light flashes briefly, and there is a sound like the lense is about to retract, but the camera immediately shuts off before anything happens. (And the batteries were brand new.)

Unfortunately, all of my pictures from the past week are currently on the camera's compactflash memory card, from which I can only retrieve images while the camera is ON.

So... by this weekend I'm hoping to:
  1. Find someone who can fix my camera, OR just buy a new one.
  2. Figure out how to get last week's pictures from my flash card to my computer.

If anyone has any advice related to those things, please let me know! (FYI, my camera is a Canon PowerShot A75 which uses CompactFlash cards about 2" x 2.2" rectangle.)

In the meantime, I have a backup digital camera that I'll be using to take pictures for my blog. However... there won't be any picture updates on my blog until I can retrieve last week's photos from my flashcard! In any case, I'll still keep you all posted on my progress...

Friday, Mar 16

Can't go anywhere these days without running into construction. This happens to be a section of Roe near my house where the old Mission Center Mall used to be.

Thursday, Mar 15

It's that time of year again... NCAA tournament time. I haven't made my own bracket picks for a few years now. But of course I still enjoy watching the games with others who have...

Wednesday, Mar 14

Buds are on the trees... we'll see new leaves soon. Spring is definitely in the air in Kansas City!

Tuesday, Mar 13

Angie wasn't able to bowl with us tonight, so it was just my mom and I, and we ended up playing the "vacant" team, so it was just the two of us. (Which made for a quick night of bowling.)

And thanks to the time change, on my way home I was actually able to enjoy one of my first Tuesday night sunsets in a long time. It's so nice to get home before dark!

Monday, Mar 12

Veggie stew for dinner tonight. It's amazing how much of the vegetables I buy end up going straight into the compost pile.

Sunday, Mar 11

Went to Taco Bell after church tonight and was introduced to a sport known as a "Napkin Eating Contest." Has to be one of the strangest things I've seen in a long time.

Did you notice the look on Kris' face (at the far right)? Gotta love it.

Saturday, Mar 10

Cosmic bowling.

Friday, Mar 9

Eric and I played in a poker tournament tonight at the Bent Oak golf course in Oak Grove, MO. Eric came in 3rd place, which earned him 4 free rounds of golf and 2 dozen golf balls. Not bad, Eric.

Thursday, Mar 8

Turkey-ball time again. Looks like we're "tating" in this picture. (That's turkey-short for "rotating".)

Wednesday, Mar 7

When I ordered my engagement ring (and wedding band) on Saturday, I had to leave my current engagement ring (and diamond) at the store. That's left my hand feeling very bare lately. Since it will be 6-8 weeks for me to get my new rings, I decided to purchase a cheap imitation ring to wear in the meantime. Apparently $10 at Claire's can buy a pretty decent knock-off. I know the picture is small and blury, but even close up this ring has managed to fool more than a few people. Who would have thought?

Tuesday, Mar 6

Bowling night.
This type of setup is occuring far too often:

Monday, Mar 5

Today was another uneventful day. Other than work, the only thing I accomplished was an update to my blog.

Sunday, Mar 4

Tonight I went to the church that I grew up in for the first time in a very long time. (Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene)

When I turned 15, I remember being alone in the santuary, standing by one of the stone facade walls on the stage. For some reason, I pulled out a little stone from the wall, wrote my initials and date, and hid it back in the cracks of the wall. For the last (almost) 15 years, I've never forgotten the EXACT spot where I hid that little stone, and have often wondered if it was still there.

It is.

Not wanting to spoil the fun, I flipped it over and wrote today's month/year on it and hid it back in the same spot.

Since I was 15 when I first hid this stone, and that was 15 years ago... I guess I'll wait another 15 years to see if it's still there. Time will tell...
